Honouring fallen firefighters

The names of 18 firefighters who died on the job have been added to the Ontario memorial outside Queen’s Park.

Lieutenant Governor David Onley thanked them for “being there for us whenever the call is made, and whenever the bell is rung.” This year’s inductees included those who died recently and a few who died in 1960’s and 70’s. The memorial statue now has 574 names.

The head of the firefighters’ union is looking for improved equipment, training and fire codes.
