Her is Spike Jonze’s first feature film since 2009’s Where the Wild Things Are, and its his first credit as a solo screenwriter.  Jonze has seen greatest success with films based around lonely men caught up in bizarre fantasies with films like Adaptation and Being John Malkovich. Her stars Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore, a lonely writer who begins a relationship with a  sentient operating system called Samantha, voiced by Scarlett Johansson. Phoenix is one of those actors who truly embodies every role he takes, and as a result this film is garnering quite a bit of awards buzz especially for the leading man.

The film costars Rooney Mara and Amy Adams with appearances by Olivia Wilde, Chris Pratt and Kristen Wiig. Her also features music composed for the film by the Arcade Fire, Owen Pallett and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ front woman Karen O.

This film is sure to be an interesting commentary on modern romance and technology since everyone knows someone in love with their phone.
