Hedley’s Hoggard sentenced to 5 years in prison

Musician Jacob Hoggard is sentenced to five years in prison after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting an Ottawa woman at a Toronto hotel in 2016.
The Crown was seeking a sentence between six and seven years behind bars, arguing Hoggard poses a risk to the public.
Hoggard’s defense argued for three to four years, pointing to a psychiatric report that says he is at a low risk to reoffend.

As a result of the sentencing, Hoggard must provide DNA and he will remain on the sex offender registry for 20 years.
He will also face a 10 year weapons ban and have no contact with the victim.
The victim told Hoggard’s sentencing hearing that what happened will haunt her for the rest of her life.
Hoggard had also faced charges of sexual assault causing bodily harm and sexual interference involving a teenage fan, but he was found not guilty of those offences.
