Carney says Canada not looking to become member of the EU

Prime Minister Mark Carney says Canada wants a unique alliance with the European Union, not a membership.

Carney was asked Sunday about a report from the Wall Street Journal that he was exploring whether Canada could become an associate member of the EU.

The PM says Canada will begin discussions with the European Union forged on common values, priorities and strengths, and that in a dangerous divided world. friends “need to stick together.”
