Hamilton Police investigating two robberies at downtown ATMs

Hamilton Police are investigating two robberies at downtown ATMs.
The first incident happened on Tuesday around 7:30 p.m.
Police say a person making a withdrawal from an ATM near Main St. W and Bay St. S was approached by a man who demanded the cash.
The man sprayed the victim with an unknown irritant and took off with the money.
The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
There was another incident the following morning around 7 a.m.
Police say a man taking out money at an ATM near King St. W and James St. N was approached by a man and a woman.
The man demanded money.
When the victim refused, he was assaulted. Police say he was threatened by the woman, who was holding a knife.
The couple fled the area before police arrived. The victim was not injured.
Police say a connection between the two incidents hasn’t been established.
They are reminding members of the public to be aware of their surroundings as they continue to investigate.
