Hamilton police are investigating a death on Hamilton’s waterfront after a woman’s body was found in the water Wednesday afternoon.

Officers say they received the report of a found body at around 3.13 p.m. in the area of Harbourside Way and Discovery Drive, and transported the body at 6:30 p.m.

The woman’s identity has not been released and the circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation.

Investigators told CHCH News that more testing will be done to determine a positive identity.

Detectives are working with the Marine Unit and Forensic Services for the investigation.

Police said they do not suspect foul play, but are waiting for a post mortem exam Thursday to rule that possibility out.
