Hamilton police chief to meet with leaders on downtown safety after fatal shooting

Following a fatal shooting at Jackson Square, Hamilton police say Chief Frank Bergen will hold a meeting with local leaders and stakeholders to chart a path to improved security and safety in downtown Hamilton.

Officers say youth violence will be a primary topic of discussion at the meeting, which is scheduled for May 27.

Invitations will be extended to Hamilton’s mayor, community agencies, school officials and business leaders.

According to police, the chief is looking for the community to help investigators prevent further violence.
