One person killed after shooting in downtown Hamilton

Hamilton police say one person has been killed after a shooting in the downtown core Thursday night.

At approximately 6:28 p.m., officers were called to 191 Main St. West for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, police found one male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was then transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.

Investigators believe there may be more injured parties who fled the scene.

A description of the suspected shooter has not been provided.

Hess Street between Main and Bold streets is closed for the investigation. Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area while investigators are on scene for the next few hours.

Police are asking residents in the area to review their CCTV cameras for anything suspicious.
