Hamilton police arrest over 1000 people in Project KORA

Hamilton police say they have arrested more than a thousand individuals over the span of an 18-month investigation called Project KORA.
Police launched the investigation in April 2022 in an effort to reduce the number of wanted individuals in the community and hold people accountable for committing offenses.
Project KORA (keeping offenders responsible and accountable) resulted in the seizure of various weapons, such as five firearms, brass knuckles, hatchets, knives, pellet guns, a crossbow, throwing stars and a taser.

Police were also able to recover stolen property, $4,800 in cash and illicit drugs, including 272 grams of fentanyl, 5.5 grams of methamphetamine, 30 grams of cocaine, and illegal oxycodone pills.
Project KORA focused on offenders wanted for property and victim-related offenses, as well as weapon offenses and violations of previous judicial releases.
Multiple units from within the police service were involved and a further 295 charges were laid as a result of the investigation.
