Hamilton man wins $1M in LOTTO 6/49’s Gold Ball Draw
A 31-year-old man from Hamilton has won $1 million in LOTTO 6/49’s Gold Ball Draw on April 1, according to an OLG announcement.
Tristan R., a physiotherapist, has been playing the lottery every week for about a year.
He says he was on his lunch break when he received an email from OLG. “It was so unbelievable. I probably checked the ticket a hundred times. I was really excited and couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the workday.”
Tristan says he waited until he got home to share the news with his wife, but she didn’t believe him at first as it was April Fools.
“When she finally believed it, we instantly started daydreaming about the things we could do with this prize. We just had a baby four months ago, so this win came at a great time,” he says.
Tristan plans to buy a bigger home and an SUV with his winnings.
“We’d like to grow our family and this will help us plan for that. We’ll also invest a portion of this win and maybe take a trip in the future,” he says.
