Hamilton man sues police for millions in damages

A Hamilton man who was badly injured in a botched drug raid last year is suing Hamilton Police.


Po La Hay and his family are suing members of the Hamilton Police Service and its board for more than $2.5 million.
Hay suffered three cracked ribs and a cracked vertebra when police burst into his apartment.
Last week charges were dropped against Ryan Tocher, a Hamilton police officer charged with assault in the case.

Hay is seeking at least $1.35 million in damages. His son, nephew and daughter are seeking a combined $1.2 million.

More than 20 current and former officers are listed, including Hamilton Police Chief Glenn DeCaire.
