Halton police are asking for the public’s help after a home in Oakville was broken into and the residents’ Mercedes SUV was stolen early Sunday morning.
Officers say at just after 3 a.m., three individuals believed to be male used a hammer to smash the glass on the front door to unlock the door and enter a home in the area of Neyagawa Boulevard and Dundas Street.
The residents of the home were woken up by the sound and were confronted by one of the accused carrying a hammer who demanded the keys to the Mercedes SUV sitting in the driveway.
After getting the keys, detectives say the three accused left in the stolen SUV and the red SUV they arrived in.
Authorities found the Mercedes SUV a short time later in Toronto, where it had been abandoned.
Police say no one was injured in the interaction.
Halton Regional Police are asking anyone with video footage (dashcam or surveillance) from the area of Dundas Street and Neyagawa Boulevard between 2:45 a.m. and 3:10 a.m. to contact them.
