Man charged after allegedly shooting himself in the leg in Hamilton

Hamilton police have arrested and charged a man with firearm offenses after allegedly shooting himself this weekend.

On Sunday shortly before 3 a.m., a man arrived at a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg. The injury is considered non-life-threatening.

Investigators say the male had previously been at Venu Bar, located at 627 King Street East in Hamilton.

Detectives say the individual who suffered the gunshot wound was the same individual alleged to be responsible for the shooting. He is believed to have shot himself.

Officers say the man was arrested and charged with firearm offences related to the incident. He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
