GM recalls over 217K cars and SUVs over potential fluid leak

General Motors is recalling over 217,000 vehicles in Canada and the U.S. over a potential fluid leak that could cause vehicles to stop moving or even catch fire.
GM says the affected cars and SUVs may have two bolts missing from the stop-start mechanism, allowing transmission fluid to leak.
The recall covers:
- 2018 through 2020 Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain
- 2018 Chevrolet Malibu
- 2018, 2019 Chevrolet Cruze and Buick LaCrosse
- 2019, 2020 Buick Encore and Enclave, Cadillac XT4, GMC Acadia and Chevrolet Blazer
- 2020 Cadillac XT6
The company says it has no reports of crashes, fires or injuries.
Dealers will inspect the mechanism and replace bolts if they’re missing starting next month.
