Niagara Falls murder trial

A trial is underway for three men accused in the murder of a Niagara Falls man. 49-year-old Alexander Fraser disappeared on boxing day three years ago, but his body was later found floating in the Niagara river.
The crown alleges 26-year-old Brad Macgarvie, 30 year-old Duran Wilson and Thomas Nagy lured Fraser to his death. Fraser had been the victim of a violent assault at a Niagara Falls apartment a month before he disappeared. The crown says Fraser had planned to retaliate against the three accused, but word of Fraser’s plot got out.
The 12 person jury heard that Fraser drove to Gonder’s flat along the Niagara Parkway in Fort Erie in the early hours of December 26 2014. That was the last time Fraser was seen alive. His burnt out car was found near the parking lot of Gonder’s flat around 2 a.m. Two months later his body was found floating near the Sir Adam Beck Generating Station in Niagara Falls. His head was wrapped with duct tape and his wrists and ankles were tied.
Niagara Parks police Constable Harry Claassen testified in court today. He says the burnt out vehicle, which was registered to Fraser, was never reported stolen.
Crown attorney Tyler Shuster alleges Fraser, a father of two, was ambushed from behind the night he arrived at Gonder’s flat. He was then tied up by Nagy and Macgarvie and put into another car and driven into a wooded area.
Fraser grew up in Hamilton and had lived in Niagara Falls for a number of years. He was known to police and was a registered sex offender.
