Ferrero Canada has shut down its Brantford plant after several employees tested positive for COVID-19.

The plant closed Tuesday afternoon when the company discovered seven workers contracted the virus.

The facility manufactures Nutella, Ferrero Rocher, Tic Tac, and Kinder products.

A Ferrero Canada spokesperson says the employees worked in the same areas and had not been in the plant for almost two weeks before getting their test results.

The company says they closed the plant out of an abundance of caution and will only resume operations when it is appropriate to do so.

The facility is currently being assessed and will undergo a deep cleaning.

The company did not say if the closure will result in a shortage of Ferrero products.
