Farmer’s Market owners furious as County’s barriers block their entrance

The owners of a farmer’s market are furious after Brant County installed concrete barriers blocking one of their entrances.
As Adam Atkinson tells us, the owners of the Little Brown Cow say they’ve been trying to find a suitable solution for both sides for 9 months.
Jenny Butcher says this all started last year when the County of Brant installed a turning lane into Little Brown Cow on Cockshutt Road near Brantford.
But then, in November, the County told Butcher that the North Driveway to Little Brown Cow was unsafe because of the turning lane.
Despite the driveway being there for decades, the owners of Little Brown Cow offered to pay for No Left Turn signs.
Butcher even hired a traffic engineer who came up with the solution of making the turning lane go to the north driveway instead of the south one.
Wednesday morning, the large bright yellow barriers were installed.
Neighbours we spoke with are on Little Brown Cow’s side and even have their own solutions other than barriers.
The County of Brant wouldn’t go on camera this afternoon, citing legal reasons, but sent CHCH an email saying the owners of Little Brown Cow requested the turning lane, and that at the time, they were told of the safety issues.
