Erin O’Toole has been voted out as leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

The federal Conservative caucus held a vote on Wednesday to decide if O’Toole would remain at the helm of the party.

The party’s members met virtually to cast a secret ballot after roughly 20 per cent of them signed a letter to hold a leadership review.

According to The Canadian Press, sources say O’Toole has lost the vote.

Conservative MPs will now have to pick a new interim leader.

After learning about the letter on Monday, O’Toole said he would accept the results of the vote and those who signed the letter asking for a review would have to do the same.

Following last year’s election, the Conservative caucus gave itself the power to trigger a leadership review instead of waiting for the question to be put to the wider membership.
