Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say the driver of a passenger vehicle was killed in a head-on collision with a transport truck in Norfolk County.

On Tuesday shortly before 7 a.m., OPP, fire and paramedic services responded to a head-on collision on Brantford Road between Windham Centre Road 9 and Windham Road 7.

Investigators say the driver of a passenger vehicle suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead on scene. The transport truck driver was left uninjured.

Officers say roads are expected to be closed in the area for between six and eight hours.

OPP is urging the driver who ran into a road-closed sign, causing significant damage to both their vehicle and the sign, to come forward and file a collision report.

Police are reminding drivers to pay attention to their surroundings and to not go around road closed signs for everyone’s safety.
