Commissioner upset over gas plant investigation

Information and Privacy Commissioner Ann Cavoukian says the Liberal party was less than co-operative during her investigation of deleted emails related to cancelled power plants in Mississauga and Oakville. Tuesday, she released an addendum to her original report, saying quote.

“In light of the information I now have, I would have arrived at a different conclusion regarding the ability of the Ministry of Government Services staff to retrieve the relevant emails from Mr. MacLennan’s email account.”

Cavoukian still believes that she was “misled” when she was told that the former Chief of Staff’s email account could not be retrieved, as 39,000 emails were later found to be sent or received by him on a backup computer drive. Despite the Commissioner’s new findings, she says her previous report is still accurate.
