The City of Burlington is looking for feedback to help steer a community-focused waterfront music event.
Yesterday, the City officially turned down the Sound of Music festival organizer’s plea for nearly $750,000 they say was needed to stay afloat.
Much of the money would have gone towards unpaid bills and vendors from last year’s festival.
The city typically provides $150,000 for the festival but the Oct. 14 vote also re-allocated that cash to the community investment fund, earmarked for a future music festival in Spencer Smith Park.

Dave Shepherd, the chair of the festival’s board of directors, says he’s disappointed in the decision.
In a statement, the City says its new goal is to see a waterfront music festival continue to thrive in a way that evolves with the community and continues to bring people together for years to come.
The feedback will play a vital role in shaping the future of music programming in Burlington.

The survey will be open until Nov. 17.
