Charges laid in shocking January shooting at a Niagara Falls home
A 26-year-old man has been charged in connection with a shocking shooting at a home in Niagara Falls in January of this year.
Niagara police responded to Armstrong Dr. shortly after 9 p.m. on Jan. 4 for reports of a shooting at a home.
Investigators say residents were inside of the house when shots were fired through a front window, but no one was injured.
On scene investigations found evidence of at least three bullets having been fired at the home.
Surveillance video captured the sound of four gunshots ringing through the neighbourhood and showed the suspect running north on Armstrong Drive before detectives say he entered a gray Volkswagen Jetta being driven by a second suspect.
On Thursday officers arrested Jeffrey P. Venzon of Niagara Falls, who is believed to have been the shooter. He faces three counts of discharging a firearm with the intent to wound or endanger life, carrying a concealed weapon and additional firearm-related charges.
Venzon, who was previously known to police, was held in custody pending a bail hearing on Friday.
Niagara police tell CHCH News that the driver has been identified but hasn’t been charged at this time.
Investigators have not determined the motive behind the shooting, though the say that they do not believe the victims and accused are known to one another.
