Charges laid in Calgary disappearances

Formal charges have now been laid against the man interviewed by police as a person of interest in the disappearance of a Calgary family.

Douglas Garland, 54, is now facing two counts of first degree murder and one count of second degree murder. Garland was brought in last night to face a Justice of the Peace.

Calgary Police Chief Rick Hanson says the bodies of Alvin and Kathryn Liknes, and their five year old grandson Nathan O’Brien still haven’t been found. The search for evidence continues at a Calgary landfill. Garland’s next court appearance is scheduled for tomorrow.
