Burlington has decided to make a pitch to bring the World Cup’s “FIFA Canada’s Caravan” to the city.

Bringing the fan experience to Burlington would cost the city $160,000. The city says the money will come from an expected surplus from the Cultural Initiatives Reserve Fund.

In the report outlining the bid, city staff recommend the event be held at Spencer Smith Park.

The report highlighted that bringing the event to the city would be a rare opportunity that could have a positive economic impact by attracting visitors to Burlington’s downtown.

FIFA26 Canada has issued a letter confirming its interest with Burlington saying they consider the city a strong candidate, “citing the city’s capacity, enthusiasm, and alignment with program objectives.”

The World Cup is scheduled to take place between June 11 and July 19, 2026, with six games to be played at BMO Field in Toronto.
