St. Catharines man arrested as part of drug trafficking investigation

Niagara police arrested a man from St. Catharines Thursday after an investigation into drug trafficking in the city began back in December.

Investigators say they identified a man who allegedly exhibited behaviour consistent with the illegal trafficking of drugs.

With help from Niagara police’s Community Oriented Response and Engagement and the Human Trafficking units, police executed search warrants at a home on Louth Street in St. Catharines Thursday and placed the man under arrest.

Detectives seized as part of the investigation:

• 12 grams of suspected fentanyl with an estimated street value of $2,640;
• 68 Hydromorphone tablets with an estimated street value of $1,360;
• 8 Oxycodone tablets with an estimated street value of $90;
• and $1,287 in Canadian currency.

Officers have charged 39-year-old Kraig Salmon of St. Catharines with offences related to possessing Schedule I substances for the purposes of trafficking.

Salmon was released on a criminal undertaking — a Form 10 Undertaking — with a future court date.
