Big rig rollover blocks Red Hill Valley Parkway

The southbound lanes of Hamilton’s Red Hill Valley Parkway are expected to stay closed into the evening, after a tractor-trailer flipped over this morning.

It happened near Barton St at around 8:30 am. Hamilton Police say a woman lost control of the car she was driving, and spun into the path of the truck.

The truck was carrying skyjacks and flipped over into a ditch.

The diesel tank of the truck also ruptured, spilling gas into Red Hill Creek. A Hazmat team has been called to help clean up the mess.

The driver of the car suffered minor injuries but is going to be ok and the truck driver walked away uninjured.

Police are reminding people to drive according to road and weather conditions.
