American woman dominates the 2018 Boston Marathon

The first American woman since 1985 won the Boston Marathon on Monday.

Two-time Olympian Desiree Linden battled icy rain and gusty winds to take home the monumental win.

Linden finished the race with an unofficial time of two hours, 39 minutes and 54 seconds.

This was the slowest time for a women’s winner since 1978.

Second place runner Yuki Kawauchi finished with an unofficial time of two hours, 15 minutes and 58 seconds, making him the first Japanese man to win the marathon since 1987.
