Aggravated assault in Welland

A man has been arrested after an assault in a Welland home on Saturday.

Niagara Regional Police answered a call at 1:40am for a disturbance at a home on Gretel Place.

They found that a 38 year old male had been struck in the head with a hammer and thrown through a glass door.

The suspect had also damaged a computer.

The victim was taken to the Welland County General Hospital where he was treated for a concussion, broken nose and cuts to the head.

The suspect, who had fled, was arrested a short time later.

38 year old Lee Barlow of St. Catharines is charged with Aggravated Assault and Mischief.
