Niagara police have arrested two people as part of an investigation after drugs were where found in the bathroom ceiling tiles of a Niagara Falls business.
Niagara police began an investigation in December after officers recovered 1,373.7 grams of fentanyl – worth an estimated street value of of around $100,000 – and 22 hydromorphone pills from a local business.
Investigators say they were able to identify the owners of the drugs and arrested 22-year-old Obeida Samara from Thorold Thursday.
Officers say a search incident to arrest led them to find and seize: 29.4 grams of fentanyl, 139.0 grams of cocaine, 198.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 347 hydromorphone pills, $1,016 in Canadian currency, and three cellphones.
The combined estimated value of the seized substances is around $21,470.
Police have charged Samara with offences including eight counts of possessing a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking.
Samara was held in custody pending a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse Friday.
Officers also arrested 64-year-old Hiyam Samara of Thorold and have charged them with similar offences.
