Brantford police charge man in Valentine’s Day intimate partner attempted murder

Brantford police have arrested and charged a 37-year-old man with attempted murder in what has been deemed an intimate partner violence incident against a woman.
In the early hours of Valentine’s Day officers were dispatched to a residence on English Lane in the city after a report of an injured female who had arrived at an area hospital with life-threatening stab wounds.
Police went to her residence where they found the accused individual. He was taken into custody without incident.
Police say the accused and the victim were known to each other and that the stabbing was been classified as an ‘Intimate Partner Violence’-related homicide.
The Brantford man was charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, two counts of disobeying court orders and two counts of failing to comply with judicial release.
An update on the women’s condition is not yet known.
