2 Edmonton police officers fatally shot while responding to dispute
Edmonton police say two officers have been killed while responding to a family dispute early Thursday morning.
Chief Dale McFee says Const. Travis Jordan, 35, and Const. Brett Ryan, 30, were shot by a man when they arrived. The officers did not have the chance to use their guns.
He says other officers rushed the two wounded constables to hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
McFee says that the suspect in the killing of two patrol officers is believed to have died of self-inflicted wounds.
Police say a woman at the scene was also transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries and is in stable but serious condition.
A dozen police vehicles and a forensics truck were parked around a northwest Edmonton apartment complex.
Investigators taped off the scene and blocked the road leading into the complex.
