St. Thomas More school bus collides with van, 8 seriously injured

A busload of Hamilton students from St. Thomas more coming home from a ski trip was involved in a serious head on crash near Collingwood Friday afternoon.
Paramedics say 8 people, including 6 children ranging in age from 4 – 15 years old, were taken to hospital with serious injuries and a 10 year old remains in critical condition. They were all in the van that collided with the bus on highway 26 north of Stayner. None of the injured were on the St. Thomas More bus.
The 41 students, in grades 9 through 12, left Wednesday for an annual ski trip to Mount St. Louis. They were on their way back to Hamilton on one bus with three adult supervisors, while two other adult supervisors followed behind the bus in a car.
All the St. Thomas More students arrived back to Hamilton around 7:30 pm.
OPP say investigators have determined the van crossed the centre line on the highway and collided with the coach bus.
