Ontario reports another 2,290 COVID-19 cases, 40 deaths

Ontario is reporting another 2,290 cases of COVID-19 and 40 deaths.

Data released by the province on Friday shows 68,246 tests were completed. There are 81,235 tests under investigation.

There are 877 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in Ontario, down from the 919 reported on Thursday. There are 261 people in ICU with 168 of those on ventilators.

Of the 43 deaths reported on Friday, 21 were people aged 80 and older and 16 were between 60 and 79 years old.

Two of the deaths were people between the ages of 40 and 59. Someone between 20 and 39 years old also died.

The province’s death toll from the virus is now at 4,098 people.

Ontario is reporting 2,290 cases of #COVID19 and over 68,200 tests completed. Locally, there are 691 new cases in Toronto, 361 in Peel, 296 in York Region, 207 in Windsor-Essex County and 126 in Hamilton.

• 32 in hospital

Haldimand-Norfolk

• 762 total cases, up 4 from Thursday
• 663 resolved cases
• 61 active cases
• 33 deaths

Brant

• 709 total cases, up 9 from Thursday
• 598 resolved cases
• 106 active cases
• 5 deaths
• 2 in hospital

Another 133 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Ontario schools.
