Ontario reports 169 new cases of COVID-19, highest count since mid July

Ontario is reporting 169 cases of COVID-19.

This is the tenth straight day the province has seen new cases in the triple digits and the highest case count since July 24th.

According to Health Minister Christine Elliott, Peel reported the most new cases in the province with 46. Toronto, Ottawa, and York Region follow.

Ontario is reporting 169 cases of #COVID19 as the province processed over 28,600 tests. Peel is reporting 46 new cases, with 42 in Toronto, 30 in Ottawa and 19 in York Region.

An additional 106 cases have been marked as resolved.

There have been no new deaths reported, which leaves the death count at 2,811.

Patients in hospital with the infection dropped from 66 to 58.

14 of those are in intensive care units and eight are on ventilators.

Dr. Theresa Tam has taken to Twitter to remind Canadians the importance of public health practices during Labour Day weekend.

#COVID19 will know what you do this #longweekend but we won’t know for ~2 weeks. Daily case counts are already above the mid-July bump, at levels not seen since we were coming down the curve in early to mid June.

As of today, there is a total of 1,346 active cases of COVID-19 in Ontario.
