Oakville golfer Natasha Stasiuk, 25, won a bronze medal at the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin, Germany last week.

Stasiuk says she was bullied most of her childhood because of disabilities she calls differences. She started playing golf when she was 10-years-old and her parents knew right away she had a talent.

Stasuik says she has autism and said, “I’ve been judged my whole life, and it hurts. I’ve been told I would never pass high school, I’ve been told I’m dumb.”

Stasiuk is currently studying at Humber College to become a developmental service worker and eventually wants to work with a police organization dealing with people who have disabilities.

She says she has bigger goals with golf, “I’ve always wanted to be on the LPGA. You never know what will happen. People do try to put a downfall on that but I’m going to try to show them a person with a disability can do it.”
