A new Salvation Army report says many Ontarians are struggling to afford basic necessities amid the growing cost-of-living pressures.
It states that 28 per cent of Ontarians are spending at least half their after-tax household income on housing, which is above the national average of 24 per cent.
Almost one in three or 32 per cent say they’ve skipped or cut back on meals because they couldn’t afford groceries.
The report says food affordability is also becoming a growing concern, with 37 per cent identifying it as one of the country’s top issues.
It also states that 58 per cent of Ontarians say U.S. tariffs or trade disputes have had a financial impact on their household.
