Police working to identify two suspects in attempted Welland break-in

Niagara police are asking for the public’s help identifying two suspects involved in an attempted break and enter in Welland Monday afternoon.

At approximately 4:50 p.m., officers responded to a report of an attempted break and enter into a jewelry store in the Thorold Road and Prince Charles Drive area.

Investigators say initial information was that a white Volkswagen Touareg SUV was used to hit the front of the business in an effort to gain access.

They were not able to access the store and fled the scene in a black Audi Q7 SUV prior to police arriving on scene.

Authorities say the Audi was last seen travelling south on Lloyd Avenue from Thorold Road. They add it may have stopped briefly near the intersection of Lloyd Avenue and Maple Park Drive.

Investigators say they are looking for two male suspects who were believed to be wearing masks during the attempted break and enter. No injuries have been reported.

According to officers, the building sustained significant damages. As a result, a structural engineer is being consulted to determine the integrity of the building.

Anyone with information relevant to this investigation, or anyone with dashcam footage of the escape route is asked to contact police at 905-688-4111, option 3, ext. 1009106.
