The Ontario government says it wants to bring as many as three new resort-casinos to Niagara Falls.

The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Gaming put out a call Wednesday to experienced casino operators to submit proposals within the next 36 days.

Those selected would be allowed to develop a resort-casino in the Falls for an initial term of 30 years.

The province says casino operators will have to make a minimum investment of $1.5 billion and would have to pay $100 million as an entrance fee.

The Ford government says this initiative will bring more than $3 billion in gaming investment and another $600 million in other private sector investment to Niagara over the next 20 years.

It also says it will introduce a gaming tax rate of 9.75 per cent for operators.
