Students and families in Binbrook are one step closer to a new Catholic secondary school in their community following provincial approval.

The Hamilton–Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) has received provincial approval to issue a construction tender for the new Binbrook Catholic Secondary School.

“Binbrook has experienced unprecedented growth and families deserve access to quality education close to home,” said Donna Skelly, MPP for Flamborough – Glanbrook.

Ontario is investing $63.3 million to build the new two-storey school, located at 2655 Fletcher Rd., which the government says will help create space for over 1,000 students to help address increasing enrollment pressures.

“Once completed, this project will offer an inspiring learning environment that helps students prepare for the jobs of tomorrow. Our government will continue to provide the resources students need for ultimate achievement,” said Education Minister Paul Calandra.

“This new Catholic secondary school will make a lasting difference in the lives of students and families in the growing Binbrook community for generations to come,” added David Hansen, CEO and chief education officer of HWCDSB.

The provincial government says the school board will move forward with issuing the construction tender in the coming weeks, with the new Catholic secondary school expected to welcome students in late 2028 or early 2029.
