A portion of James Street South in Hamilton is closed Thursday after what police say was a “sewer explosion.”

Officers tell CHCH News that James Street South between York Boulevard and King William Street will remain closed until repairs are complete.

There is no word yet on the cause of the sewer explosion.

A spokesperson for Hamilton Water says the incident is not related to the City’s water or wastewater infrastructure.
