Hamilton festivalgoers came through for the Salvation Army with over 2,700 lbs. of food donations collected before heading to the Winona Peach Festival last weekend.

The Salvation Army Hamilton Community and Family Services says festivalgoers, the festival’s committee, HSR and Eastgate Square mall helped to make the annual food drive a success.

From Aug. 28–30, people travelling to the Winona Peach Festival from Eastgate Square by HSR shuttle could drop off donations before continuing on their journey.

A total of 2,736 lbs. of food and $982.45 in monetary donations were collected during the three-day festival, which is an increase of 118 lbs. and over $171 from last year.

The donations will help provide nourishment and practical assistance to approximately 500 families supported by The Salvation Army Hamilton each month.
