Burlington residents will go to the polls to cast their votes for the city’s next mayor and other municipal officials on Oct. 26, 2026.

According to the City of Burlington’s website, online voting takes place from Oct. 14 to Oct. 23 and in-person advanced polls are open on Oct. 17 and Oct. 20.

The full list of key dates and voting locations can be found on the city’s website.

Burlington Mayor Marianne Meed Ward announced in June she would be running for re-election. The mayor’s campaign focuses on city concerns such as investing in infrastructure and public safety, taking action on traffic and congestion and bringing voters’ voices to every level of government.

The deadline to submit or withdraw nominations is Aug. 21 at 2 p.m.

Candidates are listed alphabetically by last name alongside a brief bio. This page will be updated regularly as the race develops, and individual ward candidate lists will follow the same format.

Burlington’s mayoral race

  • Lisa Kearns has served as the Ward 2 city councillor since 2018. She has also held the position of Deputy Mayor of Engagement and Partnership since 2022. Kearns’ platform focuses on delivering value for taxes, housing, climate resilience, supporting local businesses and more.
  • Marianne Meed Ward was first elected mayor in 2018 and has held the position since. She is hoping the success of her past two terms as Burlington mayor will help carry her forward to a third consecutive term.
  • Rory Nisan has been the Ward 3 councillor since being elected in 2018. Prior to his time in public office, Nisan was a foreign service officer, working on human rights issues at the United Nations. His platform focuses on fiscal responsibility at city hall, affordability and quality of life.
  • Yugalkeesor Ramdhonee is new to politics but comes to the race with a background in hospitality and holds a diploma in business administration from the UK.
