Video shows smash-and-grab robbery at Hamilton Mountain jewelry store

CHCH News has obtained surveillance video of a smash-and-grab robbery at a jewelry store on Hamilton Mountain overnight Wednesday.

It happened shortly after 3 a.m. at Gold Forever Jewellery on Mohawk Road East, near Upper Wellington Street.

Surveillance video shows two suspects armed with hammers smashing and kicking the front door of the unoccupied jewelry store as a security alarm sounds.

After a failed attempt to break in, the two suspects walk toward a car as it pulls forward. Three other suspects then get out of a second car before its driver crashes through the storefront.

The video shows at least six suspects, wearing hooded sweatshirts and face coverings, using hammers to smash glass display cases and steal jewelry.

The jewelry store sustained extensive damage.

The suspects then fled the scene.

Hamilton police say no arrests have been made at this time and the investigation is ongoing.

Investigators are continuing to comb through CCTV footage.
