Hamilton’s Jimmy Thompson Memorial Pool reportedly has structural damage after it was hit during a high-speed crash Friday.

Hamilton City Ward 3 Counc. Nrinder Nann said in a social media post that the city’s building inspector has recommended the building  at 1099 King St. East, be closed for emergency stabilization work.

The post says the drivers of both vehicles involved in the crash are in stable condition in the hospital.

Ontario’s Police Watchdog is investigating the crash that damaged the building.

Access to the facility will be restricted while the investigation is underway, and the area is currently fenced off around the site.

“Once access is granted, the City will immediately begin emergency stabilization work, including engaging a structural engineer, installing temporary structural supports, securing the site and completing necessary clean-up on the exterior of the facility,” said Nann in the post.
