Niagara police have arrested a Thorold woman previously wanted in connection with a drug trafficking investigation.

Earlier in July, authorities began an investigation into the sale of illegal drugs by a Thorold resident.

Detectives later observed a man selling drugs. They were granted a search warrant for the man’s vehicle and residence.

The search resulted in the seizure of two firearms, ammunition, over $10,000 worth of drugs and Canadian and U.S. currency. The man was subsequently arrested at a business on Lundy’s Lane in Niagara Falls.

As a result, 31-year-old Benjamin Powell of Thorold is facing multiple drug and weapon charges.

Following the arrest, police were still searching for 27-year-old Alanna Shorthouse of Thorold in connection with the same investigation.

On July 22, Shorthouse turned herself in to Niagara police.
