As Canada turns 159 on Wednesday, Hamilton residents should prepare for a quiet day with most city services and administrative buildings closed for Canada Day.
All city of Hamilton administrative offices, Hamilton public library locations, Canada Post, major bank branches, LCBO stores and most grocery and retail stores including some malls such as Lime Ridge Mall and Eastgate Square, are closed for this statutory holiday.
Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) and the Disabled and Aged Regional Transportation System (DARTS) will be operating on a holiday schedule while GO transit will be running on a Saturday schedule. MyRide Waterdown will not be operating.
All non-emergency federal, provincial and municipal government offices, the greenhouse at Gage Park, all Hamilton civic museums, indoor pools, recreation centres, senior centres, arenas and the farmer’s market will also be closed.
Splash pads, outdoor pools except for Victoria Park Pool, Wild Waterworks and municipal golf courses will remain open along with select Beer Store locations.
The Starlite Drive-In Theatre, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, the Royal Botanical Gardens and Hamilton conservation areas will also be open for entertainment on Wednesday.
