Firefighters investigate after boat fire in Port Dover causes $80K in estimated damages

The Norfolk County Fire Department is investigating after a boat at the Port Dover Harbour Municipal Marina caught fire Wednesday morning.

Norfolk County Assistant Fire Chief Dave Puype said in a statement that around 20 firefighters attended the scene at around 10:50 a.m., where they encountered a boat that was fully involved in fire.

They say they were able to put the fire out before it spread to nearby vessels.

Puype says the damage to the boat is estimated to be around $80,000, and that the vessel was insured.

The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
