Hamilton men charged with arson at commercial properties in Binbrook, Stoney Creek

Hamilton police have arrested two local men in connection with separate arson investigations at commercial properties in Binbrook and lower Stoney Creek.

On May 1 police responded to a suspicious fire at a commercial property in the Binbrook area. No injuries were reported, and the suspect fled before police arrived.

On June 3 police responded to a second suspicious fire at a commercial property in lower Stoney Creek.

Through the course of the investigations, and with the public’s assistance, police identified and arrested Roberto DiPietro, 49, and Emir Ayala, 33.

The men have been charged with arson (damage to property) and possession of incendiary material.

DiPietro was also charged with failing to comply with probation, and Ayala was also charged with arson (disregard for human life).
