Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after Halton police shot and seriously injured a man in Burlington early Sunday morning.

The SIU says at around 12:30 a.m., police were in the parking lot of the Crestwood Motel on Plains Road East conducting a traffic stop.

Officials say that during the stop, the 23-year-old driving the vehicle police pulled over attempted to flee, hitting a police vehicle.

One of the officers shot at him numerous times and struck him multiple times.
