Niagara police charge young man after drug bust in Niagara Falls

Niagara police have charged an 18-year-old man Wednesday as part of a drug trafficking investigation in Niagara Falls in the area of Main and Ferry streets.

Officers say they began investigating in September and were able to identify a suspect and gain authorization to search a home in the area of Kalar and Coventry roads.

Investigators executed the search warrant Wednesday and seized items including:

  • 99.6 grams of suspected fentanyl, with an estimated street value of $9,960;
  • Approximately 500 suspected dilaudid pills, with an estimated street value of $5,000;
  • 1 gram of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of $100; and
  • $8,025 in Canadian currency.

Police have charged Rayono “JJ” Currie of Niagara Falls with offences including possession of Schedule I Substances, and possessing proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

Currie remains in custody and is scheduled to attend a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse Wednesday.
